With the future of Sarnia’s airport more secure, an annual fly-in mustering support for the struggling city asset is on hold.
Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) Flight 7 organized the Sarnia Ontario Aviation Rally (SOAR) for four years, amid Sarnia considering divesting the airport. Divesting was recommended in a 2020 consultant’s report after Air Canada stopped commercial flights in Sarnia.

“One of the original things we set out to take care of was to get the city to save the airport, or decide to keep the airport,” said COPA Flight 7 president Bruce Bond about SOAR .
