FC Cincinnati has announced that they have purchased an international roster slot from Real Salt Lake.

FC Cincinnati paid the team a total of $100,000 for the slot, the acquisition of which was announced on Saturday. Advertisement

The purchase will give Cincinnati the opportunity to acquire another player from abroad. There is a maximum limit of 241 international roster slots across the league, but teams are permitted to buy and sell them to others.

The MLS's rules limiting the total number of international slots are meant to encourage greater levels of participation by domestic players in the league.

Since the end of the 2024 season, FC Cincinnati has been in the active process of remaking its offense ever since the loss of star player and 2023 league-wide MVP Lucho Aco
