Armed officers descended on a ferry terminal, arresting a man to the astonishment of passengers today amidst a bomb scare. ‌

The dramatic scene unfolded at Southampton port this afternoon, captured on video as armed police surrounded a van while passengers aboard the Ventura, a P&O cruise ship destined for the Canary Islands , were instructed to gather at muster points. Early boarder Andy Palmer found himself in the thick of it as officers established a 200-metre cordon. ‌

From his vantage point on the ship , Mr Palmer recounted the moment he became aware of the bomb threat. Relaying the incident to the Mirror, he described how he had just boarded and was "enjoying some lunch and a drink" when he witnessed "a guy being dragged out of his car by six armed policemen". ‌
