WASHINGTON — A large group of teenagers vandalized and stole from a convenience store in Northeast D.C. just before midnight Friday, police said. Now, the community says something needs to be done to control the youth and protect the neighborhood.
The group of 20 to 30 teens were caught on camera swarming the 24/7 Best Tobacco and Wireless on the 1500 block of Benning Road around 11:40 p.m. Friday. They threw items in and outside of the store. When an employee tried to lock the door, teens pulled it open, damaging the door.
One employee shared a video of the aftermath, with items scattered everywhere. Multiple items were stolen and one employee was injured, police said.
