NANTUCKET, Mass. (WLNE) — The Nantucket Police Department said it investigated a bomb threat on Aug. 8 after a similar incident occurred on Aug. 6.
Police were called to Main Street around 7:30 p.m. for reports of an improvised explosive device.
The reporting party was said to be armed with a gun, and police and other emergency crews set up a secure perimeter by evacuating businesses, streets, and sidewalks.
A bomb squad investigation found that no explosive devices were found in the area.
Another threat was investigated at 11 p.m. in the same area, and again no explosives were found.
The incident on Aug. 6 was also in the same area and was unfounded as well.
The case is under investigation by the department, Massachusetts State Police, and the FBI.
