The Mets offense remained in a rut in their series opener against the Brewers on Friday night.

Despite home runs from Juan Soto and Starling Marte, the Mets offense could only manage two hits after the fourth inning. Both of those came in the ninth inning, but Marte was thrown out at home for the final out of a 3-2 loss on Jeff McNeil's single to center field.

The Mets have now scored two runs or fewer in their last three games as part of their recent five-game losing streak. They have now lost nine of their last 10 games, dating back to July 28.

The Mets will hope to fire their offense back up in the second game of the series against the Brewers at 7:10 p.m. at American Family Field. The season series between the Mets and Brewers is now tied 2-2.
