DETROIT — Codi Heuer lost out on a lot of baseball in the last few years.

The right-handed pitcher — who joined the league in the sixth round of the 2018 MLB Draft — had the momentum of his career built up by 2022 dashed when he required Tommy John surgery.

Just as Heuer neared a return with the Chicago Cubs, his rehab took an abrupt halt when he fractured an inside piece of his elbow and needed to get five screws put in.

Heuer, 28, estimated 37 months of rehab before he made his return to the majors with the Texas Rangers in June. After a trade deadline move to the Detroit Tigers, Heuer is grateful for making it to this point where he can get on the field again.
