The Yankees suffered another bullpen injury on Saturday, but this one was a little different.

Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera tore his Achilles tendon during Saturday’s Old-Timers’ Day game at Yankee Stadium and will undergo surgery, according to a report from The Athletic ( subscription required ).

The legendary reliever crumpled to the ground while manning center field during the contest of Yankees alumni, according to The Athletic. It came just after Rivera -- hitless in three Major League at-bats -- ripped a single off Andy Pettitte.

Rivera, 55, holds the all-time MLB record for saves with 652 during his 19-year career, all with the Yankees. He played his final season in 2013 and became the first unanimous inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019 .
