NEW YORK – The Yankees were bitten by the injury bug on Sunday, placing infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Friday) with a sternoclavicular joint sprain in his left shoulder. New York recalled catcher J.C. Escarra from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Rosario hurt his shoulder in the 10th inning of New York’s 5-3 loss to the Astros on Friday night. With a runner on first base and one out, Yainer Diaz hit a ball to deep right field. It looked as if Rosario was going to make the catch, but he hit the right-field wall and fell before center fielder Trent Grisham retrieved the ball and threw out Christian Walker at second base for the force play.

Rosario was on the ground for several minutes, but he left the field under his own power.
