LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Several Louisville lawmakers have shared their thoughts on the shock probation that had previously been given to Armond Langford, the man arrested in connection with the kidnapping and bank robbery in St. Matthews on Friday.
Prior to the events on Friday, August 8, Langford had been sentenced to 14 years in prison in February of 2024 for burglary and 19 counts of robbery. He only served five months of his sentence before a judge granted him five years of shock probation.
The Kentucky Joint Majority Caucus released a statement about this decision, calling it an “egregious misuse” of the criminal justice system, and used the case as an example to highlight why they believe the Safer Kentucky Act is crucial.
