Officers arrested a man Saturday who walked into a northeast Colorado Springs police station and asked to go to jail before allegedly throwing a chair at officers and staff, police said.

The suspect purportedly walked into the Colorado Springs Police Department's Stetson Hills substation yelling profanities and making threats toward police and citizens around 1 p.m., according to a police blotter entry. The man was arrested shortly after the situation escalated.

Before the chair was thrown, officers tried to deescalate the situation by speaking with the man from the other side of the front window. The man responded by threatening to break the front glass door, police said.
