COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -On Tuesday, 11 News obtained the court documents for Brand Hugney, the man arrested on arson charges on Sunday.

According to the arrest papers, Hugney told police he had seen a man light several pieces of trash on fire with a green Bic-style lighter before running away. He then admitted to his caretaker that he was the one actually responsible. She told police he has several open arson charges and is out on bail for arson.

Documents say the fire was started in an area of tall grass near buildings at 4850 Geiger Blvd and 4850 Lorna Pl. in southeast Colorado Springs. Police reported the total area burned was 1,518 sq. feet.
