DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - SWAT responded to a barricaded car theft suspect in Douglas County, law enforcement said on Tuesday.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were tracking a stolen vehicle equipped with a GPS device in Highlands Ranch when they spotted it driving through a local housing complex.
Deputies said the two people inside the vehicle realized they were being followed and ran. The juvenile passenger was quickly apprehended, but the driver reportedly ran into his nearby apartment and barricaded himself inside.
The Douglas County SWAT team was activated. After a few announcements over the SWAT PA system, deputies said the man peacefully left the apartment and was taken into custody without incident.
