MIDDLETON, Wis. (WKOW) – Firefighters and police officers in Middleton were gearing up for a friendly rivalry on Saturday, that aims to save lives and support local families.

The annual Battle of the Badges softball game and family festival took place at Firefighters Memorial Park. The event started with a 10 a.m. with a softball game between the Middleton Fire and Police departments, vying for the coveted Golden Hydrant trophy.

Attendees can enjoy a day filled with concessions, games, face painting, and a silent auction.

The event is dedicated to 23-month-old Lenny, who is courageously battling Stage 4 neuroblastoma. Proceeds will benefit Lenny and other children facing serious illnesses, in partnership with UW Health and American Family Children's Hospital.
