INDIANAPOLIS — A suspect allegedly struck a Speedway police officer's car during a vehicle chase Friday night.

The Speedway Police Department confirmed that the chase began when its officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a vehicle that was implicated in a shooting that occurred just north of the Town of Speedway. The driver of the vehicle disregarded officer's attempts to pull him over and continued driving.

SPD officers then initiated a pursuit with the individual. During the chase, the suspect ran a red light at the intersection of 34th Street and Auburn Road.

After running the red light, the driver struck an SPD vehicle. An officer was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
