DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers outfielder Wenceel Pérez left Saturday’s game in the fifth inning with a bruised right foot.

He told reporters after the game that tests revealed no fractures and that he’s hopeful treatment will allow him to return as soon as Sunday.

Pérez suffered the injury in the second inning after fouling a ball off his foot. He stayed in the game, got back in the box, and ripped a ball into the left-field corner, hustling into third for a triple.

“I think I was high (on adrenaline),” he said. “I wasn’t able to feel the pain in that situation.

As the game went on, the foot became more swollen and painful. Pérez said the pre-pitch first step in the outfield, which puts pressure on the right foot, made the soreness especially noticeable.
