HARTFORD, Conn. — The Hartford West Indian Independence Celebration wrapped up yet another year of honoring Caribbean cultures, and organizers say this year was one of the best turnouts they’ve ever seen.

Festivities kicked off on the streets of Hartford with a parade, and then the celebration moved over to Bushnell park where 65 vendors lined the streets and offered everything from authentic food and drinks to arts and crafts and clothing.

Local West Indian groups hopped on stage to dance, sing and show off their costumes. The Wyldfyre Mas dancers won both best costume and best dance.
