DULUTH — The Duluth Harbor Monsters defended their crown as Arena League champions on Saturday with a convincing 56-27 win over Hot Springs before a raucous crowd at the DECC Arena.
The win not only avenges a June 14 loss to the Wiseguys, but gives the Harbor Monsters their second Arena Mania title.
“I’m stoked, man,” said defensive tackle Michael Austin Fields with elation. “This is my first-ever playoff win and my first time in the championship. First (championship) win ever.”
Fields and Duluth’s vaunted defensive front were a factor throughout the game, including Hot Springs’ opening drive with a tackle for loss by Fields followed by a sack from Chei Hill to force a turnover on downs.
