TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) -

In the historic city of Tombstone, residents and visitors gathered to celebrate the life of one of Hollywood’s most iconic western actors, Val Kilmer. Kilmer brought the character Doc Holiday to life in the film Tombstone , and brought national tourist attention to the movie’s namesake town with it.

Enrique Perez helped construct many of the sets for Tombstone , watching as Val Kilmer turned the titular city into a Hollywood film in the 90s. Now, more than 30 years later, Perez is back in Tombstone celebrating Kilmer’s life.

“It feels good to be here for him, but it’s kind of a sad thing that he passed so young,” said Perez.
