SAN DIEGO - Michael King came back Saturday night.

Then the San Diego Padres did.

Finally, the Padres' bulked-up bullpen outlasted the Boston Red Sox bullpen, and the Padres won 5-4 on Ramón Laureano's walk-off single in the 10th inning.

In that final inning, it was Jason Adam doing what Robert Suarez could not an inning earlier, keeping the Red Sox from scoring.

The Red Sox began the bottom of the 10th by intentionally walking Ryan O'Hearn before Laureano bounced the first pitch he saw over third baseman Alex Bregman and into left field to bring automatic runner Xander Bogaerts home.

That meant the only win would not be the moral victory of King's first start in 21/2 months.
