DETROIT — It’s easy to forget that Dillon Dingler is still only 26 years old and has all of 115 big-league games under his belt, 111 behind the plate.

Especially when you see the two heads-up, wise-beyond-his-years plays he made Friday night in the Tigers’ 6-5 victory over the Angels .

The first one came at the end of the first inning. Tarik Skubal was already beefing with home plate umpire Tom Hanahan. With two outs in the first inning, Skubal fell behind 3-0 to Mike Trout.

According to the Statcast K-zone, the first ball was off the plate down. The second pitch was dotted at the very top of the zone on the inside edge, but in the zone. The third pitch was clearly in the zone.
