A proud legacy has been created to the founder of a Nuneaton golf club that overlooks the place he loved. Syd Fryer was the driving force behind the creation of Oakridge Golf Club in Arley Lane.
It opened in 1993 after he transformed a farm into the 18-hole course which spreads over 100 acres. Over the years not only has its membership grown but also its popularity as a venue.
Sadly, the proud Arley lad passed away in 2020, leaving the business to his daughter Shane Lovric, who now runs it with her daughter Jodie and her granddaughter.
They have now opened a new bar area especially for members and visitors, aptly named 'Syd's Bar'. Its creation came due to the rise in weddings at the club, leading to the mother and daughter team to find a more permanent, dedicated space for them.
