Many Rays players and staff gathered in the T-Mobile Park dugout before Saturday’s game to watch the Mariners’ well-done ceremony to retire new Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki’s No. 51.

So at least they enjoyed that part of the evening.

After that, it was another rough game as starter Joe Boyle put them in a big early hole, leading to a 7-4 loss.

That dropped the Rays to 57-61 and 5 1/2 games out of the third American League wild-card spot, currently held by the Yankees. The Rays lost for the 12th time in their last 16 games and 26th in 37 since the end of their majors-best 25-9 run in late June, which seems eons ago.

They’ve also lost 13 of their last 16 road games and seven of their last eight road series.
