The moment the Giants traded up to draft Jaxson Dart in Round 1, the clock started ticking on Russell Wilson.

Wilson has essentially zero chance of being this franchise’s long-term quarterback savior. Dart might not become that either. But he at least has a chance . Which is all long-suffering Giants fans can ask for at this point.

So the moment Wilson begins struggling in 2025 — if, in fact, that happens — fans will be calling for Dart to replace him.

Wilson has looked uneven through 12 training camp practice. It’s obvious (as if it wasn’t already) that he is a fading veteran. Yet at least for Saturday afternoon — when he started and played one drive in the Giants’ preseason opener at the Bills — Wilson looked steady and competent.
