Federal investigators want to fine a New Jersey commercial laundry company more than $250,000 after an employee suffered “serious injuries” working on an industrial dryer.
Cooperative Laundry , based in Kearny, neglected to use lock-out and tag-out procedures to prevent machinery from starting during maintenance on Jan. 18, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Investigators did not describe the employee’s injuries but cited KNY 26671, the LLC behind the company, with 12 safety violations. OSHA officials were tipped off about the incident by the Kearny Police Department, they said Monday.
