PARADISE — The Grocery Outlet in Paradise has come out as the top fundraising store in the United States for the Independence from Hunger Campaign.

According to a press release issued Thursday by Wayne and Livia Kurtz, owners and operators of the Paradise Grocery Outlet, 519 stores throughout the nation took part in the 15th Independence from Hunger Campaign. In total, Grocery Outlet and its donors and shoppers raised $42,288. The original goal was $40,000.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the generosity of our customers and the partnership of local businesses who matched donations throughout July,” said Wayne and Livia Kurtz in a statement. “Many customers made special trips just to donate; it was truly inspiring to witness this level of commitment to our community.”
