DURHAM — Gas lines struck while excavating has proven to be an ongoing problem in Butte County, occasionally causing strain on both fire departments and PG&E.
PG&E and Cal Fire-Butte County teamed up to provide details on the 811 program, a number the public can call to have their gas lines identified and marked before a digging project, as well as a demonstration on how PG&E finds and marks lines. PG&E public information officer Paul Moreno said there have been 17 lines struck from digging within Butte County in 2025 so far.
