Scottie Scheffler walks down the eighth fairway during the first round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship golf tournament.

Justin Rose defeated J.J. Spaun in a thrilling three-hole, sudden death playoff to win the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday.

Rose made four birdies in his last five regulation holes before making birdie on two of the three playoff holes to dispatch Spaun, the 2025 U.S. Open Champion.

It's the 12th career PGA Tour victory for Rose, who on Sunday played alongside fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood. Fleetwood held the 36-hole and 54-hole leads but stumbled down the stretch to finish tied for third with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

Drama also unfolded in the race for the FedEx Cup, as only the top 50 in the standings after this week moved on to next week's BMW Championship, the second leg of three legs in the 2025 FedEx Cup Playoffs. Keep tabs on who's in and who's out of the top 50 with our FedEx Cup Playoffs bubble tracker.

Justin Rose wins the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship

Both Rose and Spaun hit it close on their third trip down the 18th hole, but Rose drained his putt and Spaun missed, crowning Rose as the winner of the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship.

It Rose's 12th career win on the PGA Tour and his first since 2023. Read more about the thrilling finish from Golfweek's Adam Schupak.

Pin location moved on No. 18 for third playoff hole

The hole has been moved on the 18th green to provide a different look for Justin Rose and JJ Spaun as they make their third trip down the fairway. The flag has been tucked to the left side of the green hugging the water all day, but now it's been moved to the right half of the putting surface.

Playoff continues after birdies for Justin Rose and JJ Spaun on second trip down 18

J.J. Spaun has a knack for dramatic putts on the 18th hole, doesn't he?

Reminiscent of his U.S. Open-winning roll, Spaun just drained a bomb for birdie on the second playoff hole, the 18th, after Justin Rose threw a dart to less than 15 feet. With the pressure on, Rose also nailed his birdie try, and the duel continues in Memphis.

Justin Rose and JJ Spaun head to second playoff hole after pars

Two pars for the pair, but man, it was close for both of them.

J.J. Spaun's birdie bid from long range burned the left side of the cup and forced him to tap in for par. Justin Rose, meanwhile, was in Position A, just 13 feet away for birdie and it was nearly the same exact putt he narrowly missed on the 18th in regulation. His attempt burned the right side of the cup.

So, it's back to the 18th tee we go.

Justin Rose hits incredible shot from tough stance on the first playoff hole

How about this one from Rosie? This beauty of a shot from a really tough lie sets up a birdie look on the first playoff hole. Spaun is also on the green with a long birdie look.

Justin Rose and JJ Spaun are headed to a playoff at the FedEx St. Jude

Justin Rose made birdie on four of his last five holes in the final round to storm back and force a playoff with J.J. Spaun, who made birdie on two of his last three holes to fire a 5-under 65 and finish the tournament at 16 under.

It's Rose vs. Spaun for all the marbles in Memphis.

Disaster strikes again for Tommy Fleetwood, who falls just short of his first PGA Tour win

It's another disappointing end to what looked like could be a long-awaited breakthrough for Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who led for the majority of this entire golf tournament.

A bogey on the 17th Sunday proved to be the most costly of blunders for Fleetwood, who ultimately made par on the 18th to finish at 15 under, tied for third with Scottie Scheffler, one shot behind the co-leaders.

It's the 43rd top-10 finish for Fleetwood, the most of any player without a win in the PGA Tour's modern era (1983).

Scottie Scheffler fires 67, will come up just short of another win

Scottie Scheffler is in the clubhouse at 15 under, but JJ Spaun is also in the clubhouse at 16 under, meaning Scottie won't be getting his fifth victory of 2025 this week.

It was another incredible display from the World No. 1, though, who shot 3-under 67 or better in every round, including a 65 on Saturday. Scheffler now moves on to the BMW Championship comfortably atop the FedEx Cup Standings having nabbed his 13th top-10 of 2025. He's finished inside the top 25 in all 16 events he's played this season.

Justin Rose, JJ Spaun tied for lead after Tommy Fleetwood bogey

It's chaos at TPC Southwind.

Tommy Fleetwood made bogey on the par-4 17th after missing a 5-foot bid for par. Just moments before, Justin Rose poured in his fourth straight birdie putt to get to 16 under.

Meanwhile, JJ Spaun made par on the 18th to cap off a final round of 5-under 65, and suddenly, Tommy Fleetwood is on the outside looking in with one hole to play in Memphis.

JJ Spaun ties Tommy Fleetwood for the lead

JJ Spaun has joined Tommy Fleetwood at 16 under after draining a long birdie putt at the 17th.

Fleetwood, meanwhile, nearly ran into disaster at the par-5 16th, which is playing as the easiest hole on the golf course. Fleetwood hit a poor third shot that left him scrambling. He snuck his six-foot par putt in the side door to keep him at 16 under. At the same time, Justin Rose made his third consecutive birdie at No. 16, getting him back within one of the lead.

Tommy Fleetwood catching fire down the stretch in Memphis

With three holes left, Tommy Fleetwood has regained the solo lead.

It looked as if it just might not be Tommy's day yet again, but back-to-back birdies on Nos. 12 and 13 and another one at No. 15 have gotten him to 16 under for the tournament, one shot ahead of J.J. Spaun. A sudden jolt of life for the Englishman who's long overdue for a PGA Tour victory.

Tommy Fleetwood (finally) makes a birdie to tie for the lead again

Tommy Fleetwood's birdie drought has finally come to an end.

He made bogey on the first hole Sunday before rattling off 10 straight pars. That streak snapped with this bomb of a birdie putt from 33 feet on the par-4 12th. On the same hole, Justin Rose made bogey, dropping him two shots behind the three-way tie for the lead between Fleetwood, Scottie Scheffler and J.J. Spaun as of 4:35 p.m. ET.

The drama continues to build in Memphis.

Scottie Scheffler moves back into a share of the lead

"Not so fast, J.J.," says the World No. 1 (probably).

Scottie Scheffler poured in a birdie on the par-4 10th hole to get to 14 under for the tournament and back into a tie for the with J.J. Spaun. Both men are one shot clear of the two Englishman in the group behind them, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood, who turned in quite pedestrian scores on the outward nine.

It's crunch time in Memphis.

JJ Spaun grabs the solo lead

U.S. Open Champion J.J. Spaun is looking to add a second victory in 2025, and he's in prime position to do so with nine holes to go.

Spaun made birdie on Nos. 6, 8 and 9 to sign for a 3-under 32 on the outward nine and take a one-shot lead at 14 under as of 3:35 p.m. ET. Scottie Scheffler, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose are just one shot back as the final group prepares to make the turn.

It's a 4-way tie for the lead at the FedEx St. Jude Championship

Birdies all around for the three men chasing Tommy Fleetwood and suddenly we have a four-way tie for the lead as of 3:20 p.m. ET.

Scottie Scheffler made birdie on No. 7 while his playing partner, J.J. Spaun, made birdies on Nos. 6 and 8. Meanwhile, in the group behind them, Justin Rose hit this beauty of an approach shot on the sixth, leading to a birdie to get to 13 under.

Buckle up. It's anyone's ball game in Memphis.

Tommy Fleetwood takes the solo lead again

A bogey on the par-4 5th hole dropped World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler back into a tie for second at 12 under with Justin Rose, leaving Tommy Fleetwood alone at the top yet again — a place he's spent a lot of time this week. Fleetwood has made three straight pars after a bogey on No. 1 and maintains a 1-shot lead as of 2:45 p.m. ET.

The Englishman is just 13 holes away from securing his first PGA Tour victory in his 162nd start, but a lot can change in 13 holes.

Scottie Scheffler grabs a share of the lead

Look who it is.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler made birdie on the par-5 third and is now in a tie for the lead at 13 under with Tommy Fleetwood, who is 1 over on the day thus far.

J.J. Spaun and Justin Rose are tied for second at 12 under with Akshay Bhatia and Andrew Novak right behind them at 11 under.

Final group goes bogey-bogey on the first hole at the FedEx St. Jude Championship

Rough start for the all-English final pairing.

Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose both made bogey on No. 1 to start their final rounds Sunday at TPC Southwind. Fleetwood still holds onto a one-shot lead as of 1:55 p.m. ET, but Rose dropped into a three-way tie for second with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and J.J. Spaun, who made birdie on the first.

Butterfly floats around Scottie Scheffler during his approach on No. 1

Somebody forgot to teach this butterfly proper etiquette.

Cameron Young surging on Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude

Cameron Young and Tommy Fleetwood were, for a long time, the two guys who just couldn't quite get it done. Lots of runner-up finishes and top 10s without a victory. Young left Fleetwood alone in that club last week when he ran away with the title at the 2025 Wyndham Championship.

Now, while Fleetwood leads and looks to get that monkey off his back like Young did last week, Young is charging up the leaderboard in the final round in Memphis. As of 1:45 p.m. ET, Young has the best round going on the golf course. He fired a 5-under 30 on the outward nine and has moved into a tie for seventh at 10 under — 14 spots higher than where he started the day.

It stands to reason that Young's name is already being strongly considered for a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup Team, and a good finish to Sunday's round would certainly help his case.

Tommy Fleetwood is all smiles as he arrives at TPC Southwind

You have to admire the Englishman's attitude, don't you? All the pressure in the world is on his shoulders as he is just 18 holes away from a maiden PGA Tour victory that has long eluded him.

He plays alongside fellow countrymen Justin Rose, teeing off at 1:40 p.m. ET.

Rickie Fowler needs a good day to play next week

Rickie Fowler has teed off for his final round at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and he needs a good day if he wants to play next week. He entered the week as No. 64 in the standings with a lot of work to do to get inside the top 50. He's done most of that work, as he now sits at No. 49 entering Sunday.

He made birdie on No. 1 to get to 10 under for the tournament, in a tie for sixth as of 1:30 p.m. ET.

Scottie Scheffler to use fill-in caddie Sunday at FedEx St. Jude Championship

The World No. 1 will have a last-minute replacement on his bag for the final round at TPC Southwind.

Scottie Scheffler's caddie, Ted Scott, had to leave Memphis for private family reasons, according to the PGA Tour. Brad Payne will step in for Scott on Sunday and carry Scheffler's bag for the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Min Woo Lee plays his final round in just over two hours

Dr. Chipinski was not messing around today.

Min Woo Lee played alone in the final round of the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship as he entered day 10 over and in dead last. The reason he played alone, though, is because there's only 69 players in a field that would normally be 70. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy decided to skip the event.

So, Lee took advantage of his lone wolf status and clocked his final round, an even-par 70, at two hours and 10 minutes. It was his best round of the week, too. He came into Memphis as the "bubble boy" for the FedEx Cup top 50, but the disappointing performance this week will send him home.

Final round underway at the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship

The final round is underway at the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship, where Tommy Fleetwood entered the day with a one-shot lead as he seeks that elusive first victory on the PGA Tour.

He'll have to fend off several major champions on his heels, including Justin Rose, World NO. 1 Scottie Scheffler and 2025 U.S. Open Champion J.J. Spaun.

Meanwhile, the pressure is on in the race for the FedEx Cup, too, as 20 players will be sent home after today's round. Only the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings advance to next week's BMW Championship.
