A group of protesters is planning to disrupt services at Church of the Highlands on Sunday over the recent detention of a suspected illegal alien.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained Giovanna Martinez on August 5 after she was pulled over by a Leeds police officer for reckless driving. AL(dot)com and other leftist outlets tried to portray her arrest as racial oppression, falsely claiming she was pulled over for going one mph above the speed limit.

The protest is being organized by two far-left groups, Birmingham Indivisible and Alabama 50501. A flyer posted by the groups advertising the protest reads, “Free Giovanna,” and “What would Jesus Do with Immigrants?”
