New images from the set of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot reveal Sarah Michelle Gellar's return to her most iconic role. It was announced earlier this year that Hulu was moving forward with a pilot for a Buffy reboot , with Oscar-winning Nomadland director Chloé Zhao directing the pilot. Nora and Lilla Zuckerman ( Poker Face , Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D ) are attached as writers.

Even though Gellar is set to reprise her seminal performance as Buffy Summers in a recurring capacity, the focus will turn to a new slayer. Ryan Kiera Armstrong, a young performer who broke out with Star Wars: Skeleton Crew , will play the lead character.
