Dear A&E,

I’ve been seeing the same married man for a number of years now. He’s wonderful – far superior to anyone else I’ve met – but I’ve come to terms with the fact that he’s not going to leave his family for me. That’s fine: I’m a single, in my 40s with a high-powered City job and not bothered about having kids myself or settling down, as my life is so busy. But what does upset me is that he will never spend the night with me. We have lovely, chatty dinners together, followed by sex in a hotel room. But even if he’s paid for the room for the night and his wife isn’t even expecting him home, he’ll leave me after sex . Sometimes I suspect he’s even booked another room – he can afford it. I crave the pillow talk but he clearly doesn’t.
