PALMYRA, Wis. (WMTV) - A man was struck by lightning on the Ice Age Trail at Kettle Moraine State Forest in Palmyra on Saturday.

According to Palmyra Fire Rescue, they were notified by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch around 4:14 p.m. Saturday of a male that was reportedly struck by lightning and not breathing.

Palmyra Fire says dispatch pinged their phone to track their location.

At 4:15 p.m., Palmyra EMS responded and requested mutual aid from additional agencies including Western Lakes and Sullivan Fire Dept. with a UTV due to the terrain.

When crews arrived on scene, they deployed assistance from a DNR Warden to locate the patient. Palmyra Fire noted cell service in the area was limited and location tracking via phone was difficult.
