NEW YORK — The Yankees ’ depth took a hit on Sunday morning as bench bat Amed Rosario was placed on the 10-day injured list with a chest contusion.
Rosario got hurt when he crashed into the wall in right field on Friday night during Devin Williams’ disastrous 10th inning . The official diagnosis from the Yankees is a left SC joint sprain.
Catcher J.C. Escarra was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take the veteran’s spot on the active roster.
The expectation is that this will be a brief IL stint for the veteran utility man. Rosario feels day-to-day physically and is already improving since he ran into the wall on Friday, but the Yankees didn’t want to play short for several days in a row while he’s recuperating.
