PORTLAND, Tenn. (WSMV) - A retired first responder was in the right place at the right time when he helped a man suffering a medical emergency.
On Wednesday morning, the Portland TN Police Department (PTPD) received a call from the former first responder about a man on the side of the road who had wrecked his bike.
The caller, Matthew “Happy” Gilmore, checked on the man and found he was unresponsive, had shallow breathing, and had lost his pulse. Gilmore started CPR and completed two rounds before the man’s pulse returned, and he regained consciousness.
Here are instructions on how to watch WSMV4 live on various platforms.
Gilmore stayed on the scene with the man until emergency personnel arrived.
“Luckily for him, Mr. Gilmore sprang into action and brought him back,” the PTPD said.
