Flash flooding hits southeast Wisconsin; state of emergency declared for Milwaukee Co.

WEST ALLIS, Wis (CBS58) — On Saturday, Aug. 9, the flash flood filled basements, took over streets and submerged cars in its path.

"When we looked out our windows it was like a river in this area where I'm standing," said Dena Deberry a West Allis resident.

Deberry lives in an apartment at 83rd and Orchard in West Allis.

"For this to happen in the short time that it did it's pretty scary because the water accumulated very fast," said Deberry.

While her home is okay, her car is stuck floating in the buildings parking garage.

"We were just told that there's 10 feet of water in our garage, they're not even parked in the stalls where we put them," Deberry explained.
