HUNT, Texas (KWTX) - Elm Mott Fire Rescue (EMFR) celebrated its partnership with Heritage Youth Missions in helping with disaster relief and rebuilding efforts in the community of Hunt after the devastating July 4 floods.
Destructive, fast-moving waters along the Guadalupe River rose 26 feet in just 45 minutes before dawn on July 4, washing away homes, campsites and vehicles in Kerr County and surrounding areas.
Heritage Youth Missions, a local youth organization, sent more than 15 hardworking members who, according to the department, did “much of the heavy lifting,” including stripping flood-damaged homes down to the studs.
