Appeals Court Dissolves Stay, Mandates Reinstatement of Congressional Appropriations Data

A federal appeals court has ordered the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to restore a public database tracking congressionally appropriated funds, a significant victory for government transparency advocates.

The ruling Saturday, from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, denies the government’s request to pause a lower court’s order while it appeals the decision. This means the OMB must make the database and its previously withheld information available to the public by August 15, 2025.
