Gov. Josh Shapiro visited SEPTA headquarters on Sunday where he met with transit agency’s leadership, including General Manager Scott Sauer, and riders to discuss how public transit serves as a lifeline for many Pennsylvanians and powers the commonwealth’s economy.

Following that meeting, Shapiro once again called on the state Senate to pass critical recurring revenue for SEPTA and mass transit agencies so that Pennsylvanians can get to work and students can get to school.

It’s unclear where the budget negotiations stand regarding mass transit. SEPTA has rolled out service cuts and fare increase to close its own funding shortfall.
