Members with the First Watford Cub Scouts had a busy weekend shucking cobs of corn.
“We try to teach the kids some good community service,” said Heather Frayne, a leader with the group of 16 youngsters, ages 9 to 11.

Not all were present for the 43rd Watford Cornfest, held in the east Lambton community Friday to Sunday, but those who were helped group leaders shuck an estimated 1,200 kilograms of corn, she said.
The group made it through 52 bags of corn, each weighing about 23 kilograms, she said.
“The Cornfest committee gives us a nice donation for doing that,” she said.
The annual event featuring free corn on the cob , a car show, two-pitch tournament, live music, and, new this year, a pickleball tournament, might have broken records for attendance, said Mark H
