Four over-the-counter skincare products meant to help immunosuppressed individuals are being recalled after it was discovered that they were contaminated with a deadly bacteria.
DermaRite is recalling four of its products —DermaKleen, DermaSarra, KleenFoam, and PeriGiene — as they could be tainted with the Burkholderia cepecia bacteria.
“In healthy individuals with minor skin lesions the use of the product will more likely result in local infections, whereas in immunocompromised individuals the infection is more likely to spread into blood stream leading to life-threatening sepsis,” the Food and Drug Administration warned.
