RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - In the U.S., 5-8% of pregnancies are impacted by preeclampsia, a complication that leads to life threatening high blood pressure.

As research and awareness surrounding the issue continues to grow, it has become something near to the 12 On Your Side Family.

Anchor and On Your Side Investigator, Jasmine Turner, learned how dangerous it can be after giving birth to a baby girl in April, 2025.

She shared her experience on social media, and NBC News correspondent Maya Eaglin, traveled to Richmond to sit down with Jasmine about her experience in an effort to raise awareness.
