SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — A Sandy woman was taken to the hospital after reportedly suffering second-degree burns in a house fire Sunday afternoon.
The fire was first reported in the area of 1800 East around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon, according to Sandy City Fire Chief Ryan McConaghie. Firefighters were able to stop the fire from endangering nearby homes.
The homeowner reportedly suffered second-degree burns and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment, McConaghie said. Firefighters were able to stop the fire quickly, but the amount of damage done has made the home uninhabitable.
McConaghie says that while the official cause of the fire hasn't been determined, barbecue is suspected as a possible cause.
