YANKTON, S.D. (KTIV) - River City Gymnastics is one of several gyms that have opened their doors to the Flippers Gymnastics’ owner and her athletes, after a fire destroyed their gym in Crofton, Nebraska.

Sarah Petersen said she started Flippers gymnastics with the goal of helping young gymnasts reach their full potential.

“I had two little girls myself,” said Petersen, “and I just wanted some avenue for them to go to learn self-respect, discipline, hard work, how to overcome things, how to get past anything that you’re struggling with. I wanted that for my girls, and I wanted it for all the girls.”

She said she was devastated to learn that the gym she had worked so hard to build was destroyed in a fire in the early morning hours of August 2nd, leaving her and her gymnasts with no place
