TOOELE — A fire that started Saturday in Tooele County is now 75% contained.

Kelly Wickens with Utah’s Department of Natural Resources said firefighters are “in a really good place” with the fire, as two engines will be patrolling for smoke and hot spots.

Wickens also stated that the fire appears to be human-caused, but provided no further information.

The fire is expected to be completely out within a couple of days.

A fire started near the junction of Interstate 80 and state Route 196 in Tooele County on Saturday.

Utah Fire Info said the Big Springs Fire initially threatened buildings and infrastructure, but crews stopped the fire’s progression by 6 p.m.
