An investigation has been launched after a woman who was found unconscious on a Greater Manchester road tragically died.

Greater Manchester Police says the 70-year-old was found seriously injured on Waggon Road, Park Bridge, at the border of Ashton-under-Lyne and Oldham , on Sunday afternoon (August 10).

She was taken to hospital for treatment after being found at around 2.30pm, but sadly later died.

Officers are investigating the circumstances of how the pensioner came to be on the road.

Enquiries are ongoing and witnesses are being urged to come forward.
