A new lawsuit is adding to the legal fallout surrounding Richmond’s ballpark-anchored Diamond District development.

Capital Results, a downtown public affairs and business consulting firm, is suing former Diamond District developer Republic Properties, alleging it is owed over $200,000 in fees for work performed as part of the Republic-led development team that originally won the project.

The lawsuit, filed Aug. 5 in Richmond Circuit Court, says Capital Results was hired by Republic to help it compete for and win the city’s solicitation for the initial project.

The firm is suing Republic for at least $300,000 – including over $166,000 in unpaid “win bonus” fees and three months’ worth of retainer fees amounting to $45,000.
