An aging Northside shopping center has a new local owner.
The Brookhill Azalea Shopping Center at 5212 Chamberlayne Road sold late last month for $15 million to Peck Properties, an investment firm based in Midlothian.
Anchored by Food Lion and populated by tenants including Dollar General, KFC and Rainbow Shops, Brookhill Azalea spans about 163,000 square feet over 16 acres near the intersection of Chamberlayne Road and Azalea and Seminary avenues in Northside. The majority of the property is in Henrico County, with about 1.5 acres in the city limits.
According to city and county records, the center’s various buildings were developed in different years. The Food Lion strip dates to the late 1980s, while the southern strip was built in the 1960s.
