EAST PEORIA, Ill. – East Peoria firefighters were called to a home on E. Faulkner Road Sunday evening that was damaged by fire.
Assistant Fire Chief Andy Ogbum says around 7:15 p.m., crews arrived finding the residents were at home, trying to put out the fire with a garden hose and trying to rescue their pets from the fire.
Two residents were taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for smoke inhalation. The remaining pets were evacuated from the home by firefighters.
No injuries to East Peoria firefighters were reported.
Damage to the home is estimated at $25,000 and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
