ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has issued an air quality alert for the entire state of Minnesota, effective until 9 a.m. on Tueday.
This alert affects numerous areas including the Twin Cities metro, Rochester, and several Tribal Nations. Heavy smoke from wildfires in Saskatchewan and Manitoba is expected to result in poor air quality.
The air quality index (AQI) is predicted to reach the red level, indicating unhealthy conditions for everyone, in central and northern Minnesota. This includes areas such as Brainerd, Duluth, and Hibbing. In these red AQI regions, all residents should limit prolonged outdoor activities. Sensitive groups, including those with respiratory issues, heart conditions, pregnant individuals, children, and older adults, are advised
