The table display was draped with a black banner stating, “Stand for the Silent.”

I glanced at it while walking into a PetSmart store. I assumed it was an organization for pet rescues or animal welfare. The woman behind the table said hello as I hustled past her.

I had no plans of stopping on the way out. But I gave the display a second look, noticing the words “STOP SUICIDE” on a poster. I slowed down to ask a few questions.

“So, little Ty here was being bullied. He made the final decision that night,” the woman said as she showed me the boy’s name on a long list of children’s names. “All the kids on this list committed suicide, and we don’t want any more babies to be on this list.”
